Ill admit some are better than others, but I think they work out quite consistently in style and sizing. They should add a fair bit of flavour to overworld settings - little hobbit peasants herding geese, bears in caves, foxes going after chickens.
...perhaps I want to make a farm Sim and not a roguelike. :¬)
I love, love, love these. There's a real 8-bittiness to them, even the ones with quite a few distinct colours. It's partly the charm of how the small scale forces a graphic artist to suggest the shape, rather than outright depict it.
ReplyDeleteI'm favourably reminded of the classic Sinclair Spectrum game Chaos, which had wizards summoning creatures fantastic and mundane to fight against each other, all on a single black screen/board.
